Our progress

Active travel

  • We’ve installed the King Street and Hammersmith gyratory safer cycle pathway, with plans underway for more permanent segregated cycle lanes.
  • We’ve opened the Hammersmith cycle hub, offering secure storage and tools for cyclists.
  • We offer a wide range of cycling support including training, maintenance, and try-before-you-bike schemes.
  • Clean Air Neighbourhoods have brought about walking-friendly, healthier streets in 2 South Fulham neighbourhoods.
  • Our School Streets Plus programme is working with schools to create healthy, safe and inspiring environments for children and residents.

Electric vehicles

  • We’ve launched shared vehicle schemes, providing access to e-vans, e-scooters, e-bikes, and e-cargo bikes for residents and businesses.
  • We’re working with car clubs to help residents share electric vehicles.
  • We’ve installed one of the densest electric vehicle charging networks in the country, with 2,800 charge points in place.

Council fleet and infrastructure

  • We’re replacing our fleet with electric vehicles by default, with 20% of the fleet now electric and rising.
  • Plans are in place for a green fleet transition for our key contracts.
  • Our street lighting is using 59% less energy following our LED replacement programme.

Clean air

  • We’ve published our draft Air Quality Action Plan for consultation
  • We’ve installed the densest air quality monitoring  network in Europe.

Our community’s achievements

  • H&F’s London Cycling Campaign branch has actively engaged the community through weekly rides, free "Dr Bike" repairs, and providing a "try-before-you-bike" service.
  • The W6 Safer Cycling Families WhatsApp group is helping local families cycle, raising awareness of local cycling initiatives.
  • An affordable cargo bike hire scheme is now available for residents and businesses, with convenient pick-up locations at NER and WBR.
  • To encourage low emissions deliveries the Chelsea Harbour Sustainable Deliveries Hub has gone live.
