Since our climate emergency declaration in 2019 we have put plans, processes and action in place to ensure the council’s activity delivers net zero.
In 2021 we published our Climate and Ecology Strategy (PDF, 624KB).
The strategy was ranked the best climate plan in London, and our action to deliver the strategy has seen us placed on CDP’s A-List of global municipalities and scored second in the UK among single-tier authorities by Climate Emergency UK.
We’ve been recognised for processes we’ve put in place including:
- climate implications on all key decisions
- our low-carbon procurement policy
- and our climate change supplementary planning document guiding developers and residents on sustainable new building.
We’re making progress in each of the five challenges we set out in our strategy.
