We will ensure that victims can report hate crimes and hate incidents quickly and easily so that we can begin to investigate as soon as possible.
A range of reporting methods are available.
If you have experienced or witnessed a hate crime, start by reporting it to the Police.
In an emergency, victims should always call 999.
You can also visit your local Police Station and speak to an officer.
Or you can call the non-emergency number 101.
Reports to Hammersmith & Fulham Council
Hammersmith & Fulham Council is committed to providing a fully accessible service, through a range of reporting methods. Residents can report hate incidents and hate crime:
- By phone on 020 8753 3333 (all residents or other visitors to the borough)
- By email at hatecrime@lbhf.gov.uk (all residents or other visitors to the borough)
- Online at www.lbhf.gov.uk/crime/hate-crime (all residents or other visitors to the borough)
- Face-to-face support can be arranged on request, either with reporting a case via Housing Officers, or arranging an in-person assessment with the ASBU.
Registered Social Housing Landlords
Tenants of registered Social Housing Landlords should report hate incidents to their landlord, when the incident takes place at their property, who will be able to take action against the perpetrator if they are a tenant or leaseholder. Incidents taking place outside the property should be reported to the police or using the other reporting methods listed here. H&F Council tenants and leaseholders should report hate incidents or hate crime using the details above to ensure the most efficient response.
If you don't know who your landlord is, you can check your tenancy agreement, or any letters you have received about rent payments or repairs. You can also contact us and we can help you find out.
Third party reporting
- Stop Hate UK provides an alternative reporting option for people who don't want to report hate crime to the police or council. Independent support and information can be accessed 24 hours a day. You can report online at www.stophateuk.org/report-here/, or call the 24 hour Stop Hate UK helpline on 0800 138 1625.
- Hate crimes can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. Fearless is part of Crimestoppers and enables young people to pass on information 100% anonymously www.crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless
- Catch (Communities Against Hate) is a group of charities who offer specialist advice and help to people effected by hate crime in London www.catch-hatecrime.org.uk
A request for support can also be made in person face-to-face to a Law Enforcement Officer or at our Customer Service Centre who will then connect you to the most appropriate service. Requests for support can also be made to your Housing Officer, other professionals, who will provide further assistance and signposting.
