Improve your energy efficiency

Find out about ways to become more energy efficient, save money and reduce carbon emissions.

Domestic properties account for nearly 30 per cent of overall carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Reducing carbon emissions not only helps tackle the climate emergency but can also save you money through simple changes to become more energy efficient in your home.

Many households can make worthwhile savings with little or no need to pay for improvements, for example by ensuring:

  • heating system timers are set up properly
  • thermostats are set at the lowest comfortable temperature
  • combi boiler flow temperatures are minimised.

Inexpensive items such as radiator foil and LED bulbs also pay back very quickly in reduced energy bills, as does turning off lights and appliances like televisions when not in use.
