Visitor permits

How they work, who can apply and what they allow you to do, including allowing your visitor access to restricted streets in Clean Air Neighbourhoods.

Booking a parking session

Our visitor permits are part of the RingGo cashless parking system.

Once your permit application has been approved, you can book and pay for a visitor parking or access sessions online or via the RingGo app.

The minimum parking session is 15 minutes and can be extended by 15 minutes at a time.

Your visitor doesn't need to display anything in their car.

You just book and pay for the session for the length of time you expect your visitor to stay for the visitor's vehicle at the time of the booking.

The session starts straight away and you can extend the session if you need to.

Please make sure your visitor has parked in either a "shared use" (permit holder or pay and display/pay by phone) or permit holder space and that the bay space is not suspended from normal use.

I don’t know how long my visitor is going to stay – do I have to guess?

It's the same as pay-and-display and you can top up your session if your visitor stays longer than planned.

My visitor didn’t stay as long as I expected. Can I have a refund?

No – sorry. Please book shorter sessions and extend them as required.

How many sessions can I book per day?

Sessions are unlimited for all zones.

How many visitors can I have at any one time?

In most zones, the permit only allows one visitor to park at a time. See the question 'How the visitor permit operates in your zone' for information about how the permit operates in your parking zone.

How the visitor permit operates in your zone.

Visitor permits are only valid for the parking zone where you live.

The residents' visitor permit operates in the same way across all zones with unlimited parking sessions allowed.

In most zones, the permit only allows one visitor to park at a time.

In a small number of zones (F, G, JJ, S, T, X, Y) two visitors are allowed at the same time, you just book and pay for a parking session for each vehicle.

In controlled parking zones that operate on Sundays there is no charge for residents' visitors using the visitor permit. A visitor parking session must be activated to avoid getting a parking fine.

No.

Yes.

Can I book a whole week session in one go?

No, you cannot book a whole week in one go. However, you can book sessions for your visitors 7 days in advance. If you need to book for an entire week you would have to purchase 7 individual days parking.

In most cases we recommend you purchase a parking session only when your visitor arrives. This is because payment is required at time of booking, and we do not refund.

If you booked in advance and your visitor fails to arrive on time, or does not arrive at all, or arrives in a different vehicle, you would not receive a refund and you will need to book and pay for another parking session. Additionally, no changes can be made to the booked session once payment has been made.

We suggest using the advance booking facility, for a visitor's vehicle, only when the vehicle is already parked at your residence at the time of booking. This is particularly useful when a visitor is staying with you overnight or for several days.

How do I book a session that starts when a paid for session is required but continues into a free time session?

It is not possible to book and activate a single session that runs from paid to free time. Instead, two sessions need to be booked.

First, book and activate the paid for session up until the end of charging period. Then at the end of the charging period, book and activate the second session. For example in zone A Riverside, the free session can be booked from 6:30pm.
