Strategic commissioning
Hammersmith & Fulham is committed to the guiding principles of prevention in the commissioning of care and support services, adopting a strengths-based approach, providing choice and control to support people to live independently.
Our strategic commissioning approach subsequently has the following priorities:
- Prevention - promoting and supporting independence for residents at home and in the community.
- Sufficiency - providing the right support at the right time so residents have access to the services they need.
- Quality - we are committed to providing care and support to our residents of the highest quality. We only enter into new contracts with services that are rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by CQC.
We aim to develop strategic relationships with partners to maximise opportunities, develop innovative ideas and trailblaze new and better ways of working to improve the lives of our residents.
Co-production
Our way of working is different. We coproduce with residents, the community sector, councillors and other partners to build shared solutions that are implemented at H&F. Taking a coproduced approach to the design and delivery of community support and services, will help us work together with the community to bring to life our commitment to 'doing things with residents not to them'. The council's commitment to coproducing policies and services with residents came from the recommendations set out in the Disabled People's Commission (DPC) report published in June 2018. We are the first local authority in the country to commit to co-production across a whole council in this way.
Please see our H&F Co-production webpages to find out more about how coproduction is making a difference.
