To vote in this election you must:

  • be registered to vote. The last date to register is Tuesday 17 April
  • be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘Polling Day’) 
  • be a British, Irish, Commonwealth or EU citizen

The last date to apply for a postal vote, or to amend an existing postal or proxy vote arrangement for the local council election on 3 May is Wednesday 18 April at 5pm. The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is Wednesday 25 April at 5pm.
