H&F's open-air Black History Month installation

We are celebrating H&F's residents of African and Caribbean heritage – past and present – with a lamppost banner installation along King Street in October. Tell us who to include!

This Black History Month we're celebrating some of Hammersmith & Fulham's influential historic Black residents with a lamppost banner installation running along King Street, Hammersmith.

Figures being recognised include Marcus Garvey, Fanny Eaton and Louis Bruce.

These banners will be in place throughout October and free to visit.

Nominate your community's local legend

The King Street exhibition represents our past historical figures; do you know of a current living resident who fits into the Black History Month theme for 2025?

Or do you know a resident or organisation supporting and empowering H&F's Black community?

We want to celebrate two incredible residents, groups, charities or businesses alongside H&F's world changing historic Black residents within our Hammersmith installation.

We're looking for those who embody the theme of Black History Month this year. The theme is Standing Firm in Power and Pride, a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe.

Tell us who we should be celebrating and nominate them to be included in the exhibition. The two winning nominees will have their image and story displayed on lampposts along King Street throughout October.

Nominations are now open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Hammersmith & Fulham.
