Santa is coming to town! Get your December sorted with the H&F event guide

With Christmas trees, fairy lights and festive displays popping up around the borough, Hammersmith & Fulham is getting into the full holiday swing.

To help spread the festive cheer, we’ve compiled a list of the jolliest events and tips on where to catch the most dazzling Christmas lights around the borough.

This is in addition to our FREE Winter Festive Fun activities for H&F children and young people, and our jam-packed calendar of festive concerts.

Ice skating at Westfield shopping centre

Date: 19 November until 8 January
Time: 10am to 10.30pm
Where: Westfield London, White City, W12

Glide across the ice under an array of twinkling illuminations at a brand-new outdoor ice rink on Westfield London.

Skating tickets are priced from £15.50 for adults and £11 for children. Discounts available for students, families, groups and key workers.

Xmas lights switch-on at Parsons Green

This event has now passed.
Date: Friday 2 December
Time: 6pm
Where: Parsons Green, New Kings Road, SW6

It will be holiday joy all around at Fulham’s annual switch-on event in Parsons Green.

Join pupils from Lady Margaret School, Reverend Tim Stilwell of St. Dionis Church and fellow residents for festive treats and carolling on the Green.

A beloved tradition, the lights are once again funded by local businesses Mr. Resistor, Naïve and Winkworth Fulham. They will light up the Green for the fifth year running.


Hammersmith Christmas market

Date: Saturday 3 December
Time: 11am to 6pm
Where: Lyric Square and King Street, W6

Hammersmith Christmas market is returning to King Street on 3 December.

Come along to pick up a free tree and admire the new winter lights in Lyric Square as part of a wintery walking tour along Hammersmith BID's bauble trail. Or why not join a wreath making workshop? The workshops are entirely FREE and you can take your new wreath home with you.

Fulham Palace Christmas Fair

Date: Saturday 3 December and Sunday 4 December
Time: 10am to 4pm
Where: Fulham Palace, SW6

This weekend, Fulham Palace will be transformed into a festive family wonderland, with carol singers, sweet treats, a tombola, seasonal gifts and craft making sessions.

Santa’s Swedish Grotta

This event has now passed.
Dates: 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18 December
Time: 10.30am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Dates: 19, 20 and 21 December
Time: 12pm to 2pm and 2.15pm to 4pm

Where: Livat shopping mall, King Street, W6

Throughout the festive season, children can meet Santa and his cheeky elf at the FREE Swedish Grotta – right across from the Library of Things.

Every Grotta visitor will receive a gift from Santa’s sleigh to take home.

No booking needed, just drop by.


Annual Christmas wine fair in Shepherds Bush

This event has now passed.
Date: Sunday 4 December
Time: 10am to 5pm
Where: La Mad, 301 Goldhawk Road, W12

Stop by for some festive wine tasting and pick up some jewellery, art, handmade wreaths and Italy’s finest panettone along the way.

From Champagne to Passito, there will be tonnes of bottles open to try, to help you find the perfect wine pairing for your Christmas menu or the perfect gift for wine lovers.


Christmas gifts market at Livat

Date: 5 to 9 December and 8 to 16 December
Where: Livat shopping mall, King Street, W6

H&F’s zero emissions market, the first one of its kind in London, is returning to Livat Hammersmith!

Pop in to browse unique gifts from local traders, including high-quality art, jewellery, clothes and home accessories. Find the market at Sook Space on the ground floor of Livat, between 5 and 9 December, right across from Lidl.

More traders will set up in the upstairs space of Livat from 8 to 16 December. More information can be found on the Hammersmith BID website.


Late night shopping event in Lillie Road

Tree lighting in Brackenbury Village

Time: 5pm to 7pm
Where: Daily Shot Warehouse, Aldensley Road, W6

Join Brackenbury locals - and even Santa himself - for the festive street party in Aldensley Road, Hammersmith.

H&F Mayor, Cllr Emma Apthorp, will do the honours of switching on the lights at 5.30pm.

A beloved tradition for local residents and businesses alike, the event is set to feature everything the jolly heart desires, from mulled wine to festive treats to carol singing by pupils from Godolphin & Latymer Girls School choir.

With a little bit of luck, you may even draw a lucky ticket in the Christmas raffle! Raffle prices include festive delicacies, gift vouchers and even a Christmas tree from Shoots & Leaves, all kindly sponsored by local businesses including the W6 Garden Centre, Stenton Family Butchers and Horton and Garton.

H&F’s Adult Learning Open Day

H&F’s Adult Learning and Skills Service is hosting an Open Day with 40 FREE course taster sessions. Come try ballroom dancing, cooking, piano, yoga, pottery, French, creative writing and much more.

There’ll also be FREE family-friendly festive workshops. Bring the little ones along to festive family cookery, block printing on Christmas wrapping paper or even carol singing.

Wandsworth Bridge Road Christmas weekend

Eat, drink and shop in all your favourite local shops, cafes and restaurants at the Wandsworth Bridge Road Christmas Weekend.

Come along for special offers on great gifts as well as live music at the Bridge Bakers, festive delicacies at the Bonbon Deli’s winter hut, Planet Plenty’s hamper raffle – and the extra nice warm feeling of knowing you’re supporting your lovely local businesses on YOUR high street.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Xmas Fair

Come along to find the perfect – and sustainable – holiday gift at the Masbro Centre’s community boot sale.

Expect good deals on preloved items. And while you’re there, learn how to tackle climate change through community action.

Crafty Christmas at All Saints Fulham

H&F Christmas Cycle Ride

Where: Hammersmith Cycle Hub, Fulham Palace Road, W6

Get into the festive spirit with your friends and colleagues at H&F’s Christmas Cycle Ride.

A professional cycling instructor will take you on a merry trip along west London’s most dazzling light displays, including:

  • Notting Hill
  • Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
  • around the West End – to see as many of the Christmas lights as possible
  • Sloane Square
  • Knightsbridge
  • Kensington
  • and back to Hammersmith Gyratory. 

We’ll meet at Hammersmith’s brand-new cycle hub at 4pm. Prompt start at 4.15pm. Please bring your own bike, lights and warm clothing.

Christmas card crafts at Fulham Library

Winter coat giveaway in Old Oak

‘Not so Silent Night’ at SEACC

Local young people, aged 11-16, are invited to a festive dance party at the Sands End Arts & Community Centre.

Hosted together with the Sands End Playground (SEAPIA), the FREE event will include a DJ, open mic, games, a 360-photo-booth and lots of party food.

St Kat’s Westway Christmas Fair

Santa will be visiting H&F’s South Park – and he’s got enough gifts for all Fulham children! Find him in the Sands End Arts & Community Centre lodge from 10am.

From 12pm, join Santa in singing along to some fantastic well known Christmas carols, performed by the Fulham Camerata Choir.

Cat and Hutch perform ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ at Hammersmith Library

Join Cat and Hutch as they bring this classic story to life.

Using puppetry and original song, Cat and Hutch jump into the world of the story, meeting some of the beloved characters and playing some too!

‘So Much 2 Say’ Christmas story and crafts

Come and join ‘So Much 2 Say’ – a picture communication app designed for children with cognitive and language impairment – for a special sensory story session.

Journey of the Magi dance performance

A sparkling Christmas production of dance, theatre, song and poetry by the Springs Dance Company, inspired by T. S. Eliot's poem.

Festive family meal at the Nourish Hub

Enjoy tasty dishes and celebrate the festive season with music and games at the Nourish Hub.
