Families pedalled their way to a day of eco-friendly fun at Wendell Park Primary's Fresh Air Festival
The event saw Cobbold Road in Shepherds Bush transformed into a car-free Play Street on Friday 28 June.
From live music to facepainting and free yoga, the programme offered a wide range of family-friendly activities promoting sustainability and active lifestyles.
More than 250 Wendell Park pupils and parents scoured 'the pre-loved' car boot sale for toys and games. Year-3 pupils showcased their gardening skills with a plant sale and local artisans displayed handmade creations.
Meanwhile, homemade treats from alumni bakers and refreshing fruit and juice donated by the local Tesco store sweetened the day’s festivities.
Henrietta Dale, Chair of the Friends group, said:
Thank you to everyone who contributed and turned out. It was just amazing to see the Wendell Park Community coming together.
“Parents and teachers worked their socks off as did great staff from the council and other stalls to pull off a wonderful event. It’s a great opportunity for us to be inspired by local initiatives and each other.
“Closing the street as a playstreet is so straightforward and adds an extra magic to our school fair and helps us take our school our into the community.”

The event also featured ’Dr Bike’ sessions, with skilled mechanics on hand to patch up flat tyres and tune up bicycles to ensure smooth rides for local cyclists.
As a special perk, festival goers had a chance to test-ride different types of cargo bikes to discover a greener way to tackle school runs and daily errands.
The showcase is one of the ways Hammersmith & Fulham Council works to promote more sustainable forms of travel. The offer also includes grants of up to £2,000 to help local families make the switch from car to cargo bike.
