More chargers are coming by popular demand as we continue to build best network in Britain

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is set to deliver more than 240 new local charging points – including approximately 16 rapid chargers for drivers who need a quicker top-up.

Cllr Florian Chevoppe-Verdier, H&F Cabinet Member for Public Realm said:

We have led Britain in EV charge point delivery by ensuring that every resident is within 400metres of a charge point. Now, we are set to deliver even more charge points based on what residents have told us they need for their next car."

To deliver the new charging points, we worked with Brent, Ealing, Haringey, Harrow and Hillingdon councils to secure £7.5million from the government's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure fund.

The new partnership means that we can deliver better value for taxpayers while maintaining our position as London's leading borough for electric vehicle infrastructure.

You asked, we're delivering

The new funding comes after we consulted with local people about electric vehicle infrastructure in H&F. You told us:

  • A third of current EV drivers said there are not enough on-street charge points.
  • A quarter of non-EV drivers said the lack of charge point access in H&F is a barrier to them buying an electric vehicle.
  • A fifth of non-EV drivers said there aren't the appropriate charge point speeds where they live.
  • And with a third of non-EV owners planning to purchase an electric vehicle within the next two years, we're making sure the infrastructure is ready.

With nearly 2,800 charging points already installed across the borough, H&F has the highest number of charging points per person – anywhere in the country.

This new investment will help more residents make the switch to electric vehicles by making charging more convenient and accessible.

Making the switch more affordable

The government has also introduced the Electric Car Grant scheme, offering up to £3,750 off eligible electric vehicles.

The discounts are designed to cut upfront costs – one of the main barriers people face when considering going electric.
