Family Information Service and SEND Local Offer

Help with finding the best childcare or early years service that suits your needs.

The Family Information Service (FIS) provides information on services for children and young people aged 0-19 or up to 25 for those with additional needs.

The SEND Local Offer provides more detailed information and advice on local support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/ or Disabilities (SEND), and their families.

Changes to the Family Information Service and SEND Local Offer webpages

Our Family Information Service (FIS) and SEND Local Offer webpages relaunched on Tuesday 1 August 2023 and are now part of our main council website.

This brings all the information and services onto our main platform, providing a more joined up experience.

FIS and SEND Local Offer advice and guidance, associated services, organisations and childcare providers now appear in the main council website search results.

Both sections have their own new homepage with a simplified navigation to help you find the information you need more easily.

We have removed a lot of duplicate information and are continuing to develop and improve the information on the new pages.

In addition, we will launch a simplified and improved FIS and SEND Local Offer services directory search where you can select filters to help you find the relevant service for your needs.

Co-producing the FIS and SEND Local Offer webpages

Your voice is informing and shaping the way that  information about services and opportunities is published. Residents have said that it can be hard to find information about services and opportunities for children and young people and we’re working together on this to co-produce changes.

The work to launch the new webpages has involved co-production. This means doing things with residents not to them. Young people, parents and carers, and other people told us the things they liked and things they didn't like about the old website. We have a co-production hub to bring the different voices and ideas together and use practical activities to change the website so it’s in line with what people have said and works better.

There is more work to be done to make it easy to access and find things! We welcome your ideas and inspiration and invite you to join us to make this happen
