Family Hub Old Oak Community Centre

A community centre with a family hub and children's centre in the Old Oak area.

Family Hub Old Oak Community Centre will be closed from 3pm on 24 December until Thursday 2 January. Some services may still be running through this time as well as holiday clubs. All children's centre sessions start again in the week beginning 6 January 2025. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Family Hub Old Oak Community Centre provides a range of family activities and support, including Harrow Youth Club, IT classes, baby massage and community football sessions.

You need to register with us before you can use any family hub services or attend an activity or session. To register you can:

H&F's Holiday Activities and Food programme

H&F's Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) offers a wide range of FREE activities across the borough during the school holidays, ensuring that every young person receives a nutritious meal.

Our Christmas and New Year holiday activities will run from Monday 23 December 2024 to Friday 3 January 2025.

Connect and babble baby group

Mondays, 10am to 11.30am

New-born to 8 months

These sessions are for parents and carers to:

  • enjoy a safe fun environment
  • meet other new parents
  • share experiences
  • get advice

Parents and carers and babies have space to explore the exciting toys and engage with a singing session.

Music at Heart - therapeutic music group for mums (and their babies)

For parents (and babies up to 2 years)

Mondays, 1.30pm to 2.15pm

Music in a supportive space has been discovered to support mothers suffering from low mood and mental health issues. This helps to develop a positive bond with their babies. Session are run by Perinatal Service for parents under this service for babies to 2 years.

Self-referral is available, please talk to your family hub staff on 020 8753 6070. Your GP or health visitor can also refer you to this group.

Tuesday

CAMHS 5+ clinics

Tuesdays, 9am to 5pm

The H&F Community CAMHS Team has a Practitioner available to provide advice, information and initial screenings for young people ages 5-17. The screening processes will allow the Practitioner to gather relevant information and determine if a CAMHS referral should be completed or if the young person should be sign-posted to another service.

If a CAMHS referral is completed; the H&F Team will further review the information gathered to determine if additional input is required by CAMHS.

CAMHS interventions such as one-to-one sessions will only be offered to children and young people who are already opened to the H&F CAMHS service.

Parents and caregivers may drop-in to discuss general queries or to request information about services provided by NHS CAMHS.

Learn and play session for children with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). Professionals at hand to offer any support needed.

Baby massage

Tuesdays, 1pm to 2pm

8 weeks to 8 months old

This session helps with reassuring your child with learnt stokes. It can also help with colic and calming your baby as well as a nice way to bond and engage with your baby. Please bring your own oil, such as sunflower or rapeseed oil.

OM:Pop yoga and wellbeing (10 weeks to 5 years)

Wednesdays, 10am to 10.45am

Yoga and wellbeing sessions for parents, carers and children. This session mixes both a gentle yoga session and mindfulness exercises. You and your child will be taught simple breathing exercises to reduce stress as well as easy yoga moves to help you feel energised and relaxed.

West London Perinatal Mental Health Service (also in adults)

Our perinatal mental health service is a dedicated team here to support women experiencing mental health challenges during pregnancy or after the birth of their baby. We understand that this period can be especially difficult, and mental health difficulties are common. Our goal is to help you feel as well as possible during this time so that you can enjoy your pregnancy and family life.

You may benefit from our service if:

  • you are experiencing moderate or severe mental health difficulties, either currently or in the past
  • your mental health concerns are not improving with the support of your GP.

This is a group hosted by West London Perinatal services. The group is for mums who would like to increase social engagement, reduce isolation, and promote social cohesion in the community Please come and join us.

Referral only, please talk to your Perinatal Practitioner, Family Hub staff, GP or health visitor about access to this group.

Do you struggle with technology? Learn new digital skills with our free IT sessions. Learn about computers and laptops, tablets and iPads and how to use them.

Sessions cover the following:

  • Learn basic skills like browsing the internet safely
  • Setting up emails
  • Online banking
  • Accessing council services
  • How to log into to your GP surgery services online
  • Patients know best

Harrow Youth Club

We run youth sessions that provide a safe space for young people to engage in sports, creative activities, and personal development programs. These sessions aim to foster community spirit, build confidence, and offer guidance to help children and young people navigate the complexities of growing up in the world of today. We also provide school holiday programs that include off-site trips in and outside of London, to cultural, educational, and recreational sites, visits to the countryside and coast and short holidays at campsites across the UK during the summer.

All sessions are free to attend and young people can register when attending the sessions.

Action on Disability - welfare benefit advice for families with SEND

Third Tuesday of the month: 10am to 12 noon

AoD delivers a free and independent welfare benefits service to ill and disabled children under 18 and their carer's resident in H&F.

We offer one off advise on all means tested and non means tested welfare benefits. For support with form filling we can arrange an appointment at our main office: AoD Centre for Independent Living, Mo Mowlam House, Clem Attlee Court, London SW6 7BF.

FOOO / The Sortie Project Community Groups

Sortie is a grassroots Community Interest Company (CIC) that helps people move forward in their lives. We provide support with finding jobs, accessing financial help, and connecting to other services. We also organise events to bring people together, reduce isolation, and help them overcome challenges.

Turning Point: stop smoking

Every other Tuesday, 12 noon to 4pm

We provide a combination of stop smoking support that works for you, all provided by our stop smoking specialists, from recognising the risks of smoking and behaviours that make it hard to quit, to trying nicotine replacement therapy (NPT) and e-cigarettes. The right support can make you 4 times more likely to quit, for good.

Lumi Foundation chair based yoga

Lumi Foundation, a charity based in Hammersmith, is offering yoga classes to improve your balance, strength, mobility and confidence. The entire class can be done on a chair or yoga mat, both will be provided.

We all want to live in a safe community and raise our young people in an environment where they can thrive. Our youth-focused team is dedicated to early intervention, protection and prevention. Providing positive alternatives for young people in Hammersmith and Fulham. We work to support those who may be vulnerable to exploitation or manipulation, helping them avoid involvement in gangs and violence or guiding them through these challenges if already involved.

Our support extends not just to young people, but also to families and the broader community.
