Terms and conditions for Black History Month installation

Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 8 September 2025.

Eligibility

Nominations are open to H&F residents aged 18 or over, as well as charities, organisations, and students who work or study in the borough but do not live in H&F. However, H&F staff and third parties directly involved in administering the installation are not eligible.

In nominating for the installation, you confirm that the person, group, or organisation you are nominating fits the criteria and gives consent to have their image displayed. We may require you to provide proof that the person that is being nominated for the installation aligns with the terms and conditions.

We reserve the right to reject nominations that are automatically generated by computer, completed by third parties or in bulk, illegible, incomplete or contrary to the spirit or intention of the installation.

How to nominate

The art installation is free to take part in.

The process for submitting your nominations and the opening and closing dates for nominations will be clearly stated.

All nominations must be received by us by no later than 5pm on Monday 8 September 2025. All nominations received after that time will be rejected.

Successful nominations

Successful nominees will be chosen by the Mayor of H&F and members of the H&F Black History Steering Committee, after the closing date.

Successful nominees will be notified by email or telephone (using details provided at nomination) within 14 days of the closing date and must, if requested, provide a postal address.

If a successful nominee does not respond to us within 7 days of being notified by us, then the successful nominee's inclusion in the installation will be forfeited, and we will be entitled to select another nominee in accordance with this process.

Our decision is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

Art installation

The details of the installation will be clearly stated and are not exchangeable or transferrable.

Liability

We accept no responsibility for nominations not successfully completed due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.

Insofar as is permitted by law, we will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any successful nominee or accept any liability for any loss damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of a successful nominee taking up their involvement. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Other rules

We reserve the right to void, cancel, suspend or amend the outcome of the art installation if it becomes necessary to do so.

The art installation judging will be governed by the law of England and Wales.

The person you are nominating must give their approval to have their image displayed for the duration of October on King Street, along with other historical local figures, as part of our Black History Month 2025 celebrations.
