It's here! Join our FREE Wild for Wildlife Festival this weekend

Head down to H&F's parks and celebrate local wildlife as part of Climate Action Week.

Join us for H&F’s first ever Wild for Wildlife weekend, coming to Wormholt Park (2 July) and Bishops Park (3 July)

Festival fever continues in three local parks this weekend – and you’re invited!

Head down to Shepherds Bush’s Wormholt Park or Fulham’s Bishops Park and Normand Park to celebrate local wildlife together with your family, friends and neighbours.

H&F’s Wild for Wildlife Festival is the grand finale of our amazing Climate Action Week, which has featured a range of green events inviting local eco enthusiasts of all ages to take action together.

“It’s been fantastic to see people get involved this Climate Action Week and we look forward to welcoming residents at our Wild for Wildlife festival,” said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Climate Change & Ecology.

“We’re absolutely determined to ensure that there’s as many ways as possible for residents to take action and play their part in achieving our goal of making this borough a place with net zero emissions by 2030.”

Saturday 2 July: Wild for Wildlife Festival – Wormholt Park, W12
Sunday 3 July: Wild for Wildlife Festival – Bishops Park, SW6

Running from 11am to 4pm, discover how you can best protect wildlife and pick up some free seeds along the way.

Join us for a walk in the park, fix your cycle with Dr Bike, and visit our booths for nature activities, gardening advice, face-painting, nibbles and more. Walks and talks will start at the willow-weaved structure.

Tiny Forest Community Day

Drop by Normand Park – home to one of our three Tiny Forests in the borough – and get immersed in nature. Learn all about your local Tiny Forest, including its wildlife and their ability to capture and store carbon from the air we breathe. Four sessions hosted throughout the day.

Birds, butterflies and urban ecosystems

Join the Wormwood Scrubs ecologists for some friendly bug hunting with nets and hands in Wormholt Park – home to local birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

Food and plant medicine walk

Discover the world of plant food and natural medicine under our feet with experts from Living Medicine. There are only limited spaces.

Wildlife and habitat exploration walk

Recycle pet and nature pictures into art

Turn your favourite pet and wildlife memories into hand-made photo books and learn where to recycle your video tapes and photographs locally.

Butterfly Walk

Butterfly Conservation is a national charity who specialise in all things butterfly and moth. Join their experts to find out what butterflies live in your local area!

Food and plant medicine walk

Climate Action Week

Hundreds of residents joined us for our borough-wide celebrations in honour of Climate Action Week ranging from workshops to info talks and climate pop-ups.

We've revisited some highlights from the week.

H&F’s new Library of Things is set to safe residents money

Borrow in the borough

Hammersmith is now home to the borough’s first Library of Things.

Got a DIY project lined up? Head down to Hammersmith Livat to make your vision a reality.

Residents can now rent a range of power tools and other useful household items from only a few pounds a day. Learn about H&F’s brand-new community hotspot here.

The Green Doctors event was well received and provided around 40 residents with tips and tricks on how to be more energy efficient

Save energy and money

To ring in Climate Action Week, dozens of residents joined us at our energy event at Our Lady of Fatima church in White City.

Local charity Green Doctors shared tips and practical tricks on how to save on energy bills while keeping our homes warm and healthy.

Residents

tested their knowledge on which appliances at home consume the most energy
benefitted from 1-to-1 consultations with Green Doctors’ energy experts
and enjoyed a free lunch and complementary energy efficiency goodies, including LED bulbs and draught proofing.

Reduce food waste

Lots of laughs and fantastic foods were had at Tuesday’s surplus supper at the Nourish Hub.

H&F’s popular community kitchen invited residents to connect with their local community over a wholesome and delicious two-course meal made from rescued ingredients.

Around 40 diners came to join the food waste fight, and stayed for a delicious Indian medley of onion bhaji, dal and raita, topped off by some apple pie and toffee sauce.

Guest speakers from the Nourish Hub and Too Good To Go helped raise awareness about the detrimental impact of food waste on the climate and household budgets.
