H&F Council is doing everything it can to end rough sleeping in the borough.

It has just completed renovation works to a homeless support facility it saved in Fulham.

The building was due to be sold to off to private developers by the landlord. A home to more than a dozen people, who need it most, would have been lost forever.

But H&F Council stepped in, bought the property and renovated each of the 13 flats. This safe space will continue to support those who are trying to rebuild their lives.

Gary, a resident who lives at the facility, said: "The contractors were very respectful, and I can already see a new lease of life in the building."

Cllr Frances Umeh, H&F Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said:

No one should have to sleep rough in 2025 on the streets of Hammersmith & Fulham. That's why we stepped in to buy the building and save this service from being lost forever. A support service we know is crucial for those people who are trying to rebuild their lives. This is just one part of our fight to end rough sleeping in H&F and build a stronger, safer and kinder borough for everyone."

Rebuilding lives

St Mungo's Service Manager, Andrea Garcia Nunez, said:

"It was great news to see the council come in and save the building so we are able to continue providing this much-needed support to residents in need. This facility offers a level of support that, from the moment someone steps inside, they feel at home.

"Since the renovation works took place, residents are extremely grateful. They are enjoying the spaces much more and looking forward to having the new TVs installed. They are even considering doing movie nights together."

Residents at the facility get wraparound support with employment and training, nursing and substance misuse from the council partners at St Mungo's, the NHS and Turning Point helping them develop independent living skills such as tenancy sustainment, budgeting, cooking, and personal care so they can move on to permanent housing.

These temporary homes are part of the council's extensive network across H&F – eight locations providing around 130 bed spaces for local people in need.
