The batters and bowlers of John Betts Primary School emerged victorious in the annual primary schools' cricket tournament in Hammersmith & Fulham.

Sixteen schools took part in the competition, dodging the rainshowers at Shepherds Bush Cricket Club's Bromyard Avenue ground, but it was the Year 5 and 6 boys from the school in Paddenswick Road, Ravenscourt Park, who triumphed, beating Larmenier & Sacred Heart in the final.

"It was a great competition, played in a fair, respectful and competitive way," said Calum Fairley, H&F school sports and games organiser. "There was some impressive cricket played, even by the inexperienced players. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."

The girls' primary school cricket tournament was held the day before, with the enthusiastic team from Good Shepherd being crowned champions, with St Stephen's the runners-up.
