Travelling via Wood Lane is set to take more time for the next 10 weeks. That's because Cadent Gas is starting disruptive works on Monday 13 October at the junction of Wood Lane, Scrubs Lane and North Pole Road.
This work is expected to significantly affect traffic, buses and pedestrians. Temporary traffic lights and bus diversions will be in place throughout, with lane closures planned for the later stages.
Cadent Gas has informed H&F Council that they must urgently upgrade their gas pipes in this area. To help minimise disruption for local people, we are insisting the gas company complete the work as quickly as possible.
There are no planned interruptions of gas supply for local residents.
We will work closely with Transport for London to monitor disruption to bus services in the area and take action if necessary.
Motorists are advised to please avoid the area and allow extra time for journeys. For traffic updates and to plan your route, visit TfL's website.
What's happening?
Cadent Gas is carrying out major roadworks to upgrade the pipes in Wood Lane in White City. These works are expected to seriously affect local traffic. The project will run in several phases over 10 weeks.
During the initial phase – from Monday 13 October to Sunday 9 November – temporary lights will control traffic flow at the junction of Wood Lane, Scrubs Lane and North Pole Road. Bus stop T on North Pole Road will be temporarily suspended until Sunday 26 October.
We will work with TfL to monitor traffic management in North Pole Road and will implement additional measures if required.

From Monday 10 November to Friday 19 December, Wood Lane southbound will be closed between North Pole Road and Du Cane Road. Nascot Street and Glenroy Street will also be closed, with drivers redirected to Caverswall Street. Bus stops Q northbound and K southbound in Wood Lane will be suspended during this time.
From Monday 1 December onwards, temporary traffic lights will be installed in Du Cane Road, with bus stop C on that road also suspended. The southbound lane will remain closed.
H&F Council will closely monitor the works.
