It's official. Hammersmith & Fulham Council has now raised more than £2.5million for local green projects.
Cllr Rowan Ree, H&F Cabinet Member for Finance and Reform, said:
We've raised more than any other council for vital green projects. Our investors can see where their money goes – transformed streets and new green spaces across H&F.
This proven track record shows that their money helps improve the local area while earning a fixed return. It's a rare win-win as we're making the borough a stronger, safer and kinder place to live."
Halfway to target
We are now halfway to our £5million target. Our success is thanks to strong support from local investors who can see the direct impact of their contributions in their local areas.
Our pioneering H&F Green Investment scheme is low-risk, open to all and allows investors to earn a fixed return while directly funding green projects across Hammersmith & Fulham.
Now, a new investment opportunity opened on Monday 2 June with a fixed 4.1%-a-year return over five years.
An extra boost from our partners at the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation means that every pound invested by residents gets matched with an additional 50p.
The offer runs until 1 September or until we hit our raise target.
Track record you can see
Since November 2023, we've invested nearly £400,000 of the raised funds to help 10 local projects come to fruition. Many more projects are now getting underway.
One of these projects is the revitalisation of King Street in Hammersmith.
We will soon be extending the rain gardens from Beavor Lane towards Standish Road. These natural flood defences have turned a stretch of unused pavement into attractive flower beds that help beautify the area, increase biodiversity and create wildlife corridors.
Similar greening schemes will soon come to:
- Blythe Road near Brook Green
- Westville Road in Shepherds Bush
- Manbre Road in Fulham.
These public-funded works build on the success of major transformations at Eelbrook Common and Purcell Crescent, which have also improved safety by creating brighter, open spaces.
