The dreamy sounds of Norway's natural beauty to popular British folk music will evoke the joy of summer as singers from Fulham Camerata share a medley of uplifting sounds this month.

A musical journey spanning 350 years will spotlight composers from Vaughan Williams to Brahms and Gjeilo at Fulham Camerata's summer concert.

The 45-strong choir is set to share its cheery summer programme during a riverside concert from 7.30pm on Saturday 21 June. The Love Through Time concert will take place at St Mary's Church, in Putney High Street.

Medley for summer

The Love Through Time concert will take place at St Mary's Church, in Putney High Street from 7.30pm on Saturday 21 June

"Love Through Time is a medley of summer music ranging from Brahms to the contemporary music of Morten Lauridsen and the dreamy sounds of the Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo," explains Fulham Camerata's Geraldine Cooper.

"We also have a brand-new commission by our composer in residence, Alexander Hopkins, and we can't wait to premiere it at our summer concert.

"The concert is set to be a magical evening of timeless music in a stunning riverside setting."
The musical showcase will be a tour of much-loved pieces from British composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and Hubert Parry, alongside earlier works from 17th century fellow Brit Henry Purcell.

Paying a visit to Europe, the Fulham Camerata singers – who have been rehearsing for the concert for the past two months – will also bring the sounds of 19th century German composers Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms to the riverbank venue.

Contemporary music has not been forgotten, as atmospheric works from US composer Morten Lauridsen and the beautiful harmonies of the Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo are on the bill at the concert, which is directed by Harry Guthrie.
