ROAD UPDATE: Traffic disruption expected with Westway, Lillie Road and Depot Road closures

The Westway roundabout's eastbound slip road and the southbound A3220 West Cross route have been sealed off until 22 August.

A40 Westway in White City

Expect disruption getting on and off the A40 at the Westway roundabout as Transport for London closes slip roads for a month to replace the 50-year-old support pillars.

The eastbound slip road and the southbound A3220 West Cross route (from Westway roundabout to Holland Park roundabout) was sealed off at 10pm on Sunday 21 July.

This closure will last until 22 August. Traffic diversions will be in place, but roads including Wood Lane will have to take the strain, so delays are inevitable.

Then from Monday 2 September until the middle of October, the westbound lanes of the slip road from the A3220 West Cross Route to the A40 Westway, via the Westway roundabout, will be closed. The West Cross Route from Holland Park roundabout to Westway roundabout will also be shut off then to northbound traffic.

Away from White City, the A312 Parkway at Hayes and the North Circular will be busier, but the A40 Westway – used by 90,000 vehicles a day – will remain open to drive in and out of central London.

Lillie Bridge, site of Thames Water works from 22 July

Thames Water works in Lillie Road

Part of Lillie Road in Fulham has been closed to traffic from Monday 22 July, between Seagrave Road and Eardley Crescent while Thames Water replaces a century-old main.

The stretch is either side of West Brompton tube, but cyclists and pedestrians will still have access. Signposts will divert traffic via North End Road, Fulham Road and Finborough Road until Friday 30 August.

Other utility companies will take advantage of the closure to do work of their own, reducing future disruption around Lillie Bridge.

Depot Road works

Another pinch point will be around the Wood Lane/South Africa Road junction in White City, as roadworks are also being carried out on Depot Road until early September.

Bus routes are not affected, but journey times are likely to be longer.

Work will pause during the Notting Hill Carnival weekend of 25 and 26 August. TfL urges shoppers to use public transport to get to and from the Westfield shopping mall.
