Hold tight for changes to some of Hammersmith & Fulham’s most popular bus routes.

The changes were announced by Transport for London in order to cut waiting times at local bus stops.

More buses will run on route 306, from Sainsbury’s in Sands End, via Fulham Broadway, North End Market, the West Ken estate, Olympia, Hammersmith, Ravenscourt Park and Uxbridge Road to Acton Vale. From 13 April, it will increase from every 20 minutes to every 15.

Similarly, more 283 buses will run. It runs from Hammersmith bus station, via Brook Green, Shepherds Bush, Loftus Road and the White City estate, past Hammersmith Hospital to Brunel Road, East Acton.

Extra buses are being added on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 24 February, with a bus on average every 15 minutes, instead of every 20. The earliest buses at weekends will now be at around 5.30am – an hour earlier than at present.

However, route 228, which runs through Shepherds Bush and White City, past QPR’s stadium, along Uxbridge Road, East Acton and Old Oak Common to the Central Middlesex Hospital, is being trimmed from three buses an hour to two after 13 April, as demand has fallen.

Andrew Hatch, from Transport for London, explained that the changes reflected ‘customer demand’ and were being made to ensure ‘resources are allocated where they are most needed’.

Signs on stops will give passengers more info, and TfL has promised to monitor changes, so everything goes smoothly.
