A winter wonderland is coming to Fulham Palace for its annual Christmas fair.

The centuries-old historic house and garden will be transformed as twinkling lights, seasonal decorations and extravagantly-adorned Christmas trees spark a celebratory atmosphere.

From meetings with Father Christmas, to carol singers, wreath making, mince pies and storytelling, there’s activities for all the family during the series of events running from 24 November to 14 December.

Fun with elves

Father Christmas and his elves will launch the fun with family meet and greets from 24-26 November, before Fulham Palace’s annual Christmas fair the following weekend.

Carol singers, sweet treats, a tombola, seasonal gifts, face painting, storytelling and craftmaking are just some of the activities due to put the sparkle into this year’s fair.

The Christmas fair is being held at the former home of the Bishops of London in Bishop’s Avenue, Fulham, on 2-3 December from 10am to 4pm.

It will feature a market with more than 75 stalls packed with produce from mulled wine and mince pies to handmade decorations, as well as jewellery, clothes and art.

Visitors can sing along to classic Christmas carols performed by local choirs in the Palace’s historic Tudor courtyard.

Meanwhile, Bishop Sherlock’s room will play host to a recital from local artists, as well as skilled volunteer musicians.

The Fulham Palace garden stall will be selling homemade jars of goodies including chutneys, pickles and jellies, while the museum shop will stock festive decorations and gifts.

Children can enjoy free activities including storytelling and crafts, while the fair will also host face painting and traditional fairground games.

Visitors looking for a more relaxed Christmas fair experience can browse the stalls while sipping on a glass of prosecco and listening to flute duo The Tooting Broads during an adults-only evening preview event, priced £10, from 6pm to 9.30pm on 1 December.

Something for everyone

Continuing the festive spectacular, special guided tours are being held on Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 December from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to delve into the Yuletide history of Fulham Palace.

From feasts in the Tudor period to Victorian Christmas carols, discover how Christmas has been celebrated at the Palace throughout the ages during the fascinating tour, priced at £8.

The youngest visitors haven’t been forgotten, little ones aged two to five can join a Palace Explorers session designed just for them to help solve a Christmas mystery.

Held in the Fulham Palace education centre on Thursday 14 December at 9.30am to 10.30am, tickets priced at £10.50 include entry for a child and adult.

Tickets for the Christmas Fair (£5 adults/ £3 children/£14 family) can be pre-booked online via the Fulham Palace what's on pages.
