A planning application was submitted this week which would prescribe a new route for HS2’s access onto Wormwood Scrubs. A government act lets HS2 conduct works on the Scrubs to divert essential utilities and a sewer around its Old Oak Common station building site.

In a letter to local residents this week (pdf, 109KB), H&F Deputy Leader Sue Fennimore said approval of the planning application “would give HS2 the opportunity to access the areas allowed by the Government’s HS2 Act. It would use a route that would minimise the impact on the precious ecology of the Scrubs and on the lives of local residents.”

There will be a public meeting about the planning application on the evening of Monday 1 February.
