Renewing

You can renew most items up to ten times. If an item you wish to renew has been reserved by someone else you will not be able to renew it.

If your membership card is due to expire you will not be able to renew your items if the loan date exceeds the expiry date of your card. If your card expires please contact your local library. We will then check that all your details are still correct and extend your membership.

Renewing online

Log in to renew your books

To renew your library books online you need to log in to your library account with your library card number and a PIN (Personal Identification Number).

You can obtain a PIN by visiting one of our libraries or you can recover it online if you have already registered your email address with us.

You can now renew items you have on loan from the library online using the library catalogue.

How does it work?

Go to the Hammersmith & Fulham libraries catalogue.

Once there, click the "My Account" link from the top banner and enter your membership details in the login window.

After logging in your account details will be displayed and any overdue items will be highlighted along with an overview of your account.

Choose the "Checkouts" tab. You will see a list of items you currently have on loan that are available for renewal.

Renewing all your items

To renew all items: at the top of the list select the "Select All" option then click the "Renew" button.

Renewing individual items

You can renew one or two items rather than all if you prefer: tick the box next to the items you want to renew, then click the "Renew" button.

You will need to quote your membership number or item numbers. A charge is made for any item returned or renewed after the date due back. Remember all items may be returned to any Hammersmith & Fulham, or The Libraries Consortium (TLC) library.

Reservations and requests

You may reserve any item listed on our library catalogue.

If the item is available for loan, the item requested will be reserved for you straight away and you will be notified when it is available for collection. If the item is unavailable for loan (e.g. it is on loan to another borrower) you will be notified as soon as the item has become available for collection.

Library charges

Reserved items will be held for collection for up to 14 days.

Please note: If we are unable to satisfy your reservation after 90 days, it will be automatically cancelled.

If the item you want is not in our library catalogue, you can request it.  We may be able to purchase a copy if it meets our requests purchasing criteria and is available from our contracted library supplier.

Tip: Please check your borrower account for status updates about your request.

Requests purchasing criteria

Fiction

We will generally purchase a requested general interest adult or children’s fiction title that is not already in stock, provided the item is in print and available from our contracted library supplier and the recommended retail price is not more than £30.

Please note: We will generally purchase an additional copy of any title that meets these criteria if there are more than four outstanding reservations per copy.
