Membership and joining

The documents you need to show us to join a library in H&F.

Join online or at a library

It’s easy! Simply go to the library joining form linked below and complete the online form. You will become a temporary member.

When you have your temporary number, please visit a library branch with a form of identification to become a full member and borrow items.

Acceptable forms of identification

  • Debit/Credit Card
  • Driving licence
  • Passport
  • Security pass
  • Oyster / Freedom pass, providing they have proof of name
  • Utility bill such as your gas, electric, water, telephone or council tax bill (paper or digital)
  • Bank statement (paper or digital)

Please ensure you have the original forms of ID as we will not accept photos or photocopies.

Your library card

Your library card will be issued immediately and can be used straight away.

Please remember to bring your card with you when you visit the library. All our libraries are self service. Your library card is needed every time you visit the library and want to access our services.

Customers should use our self service kiosks to borrow, renew or return items and pay library fees and charges. You can also get a digital version of your card using the My Library App.

You can use your card in all Hammersmith & Fulham libraries and any The Libraries Consortium library.
