JSNA - Place

Our health and wellbeing are largely determined by the environment in which we live in. This includes both the natural and built environment.

The natural environment includes how easy it is to access green space, while the built environment includes housing, transport and the safety of our surroundings. Environment is a key contributor to health inequalities and our ability to make healthy choices.

Improving our environment can help improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. Public health, therefore, plays an important role in identifying the best ways in which to improve the places which surround us to improve both physical and mental health.

In this section you will find documents that identify the local population needs regarding housing, transport, community safety and pollution and climate change. This list will be updated when new information becomes available.
