Step 1: Create your vocational profile
A vocational profile is a document that helps you:
- understand your skills and interests
- think about what kind of job you want
- show your skills and talents
- plan your next steps.
You can complete it with a support worker or someone who knows you well.
Step 2: Build the skills you need
Skills are things you're good at that help you do a job well.
General employability skills include:
- working with other people
- arriving on time
- dressing for the workplace
- teamwork and communication
You can build these skills by joining training programmes or courses.
Who can support you to get ready to apply?
- your school, college or sixth form staff (careers advisor, SENCO, form tutor)
- your EHC coordinator, you can email them directly or you can ask the SEND service to put you in touch, send@lbhf.gov.uk
- your transition social worker, 020 8753 2080, youngpeopleintransition@lbhf.gov.uk
