Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that is related to differences in brain development.
A child or young person with ADHD may find it difficult to:
- pay attention
- manage impulsivity
- manage hyperactivity.
ADHD in children is usually spotted when parents, carers, and educators share their observations about the child's behaviour at home and in school or nursery.
Treatment and support vary. It can include changes in educational methods, therapy, or medication.
In general, children under 5 years old are too young to consider for an ADHD diagnosis. This is because young children are still developing and changing quickly.
