Positive relationships summary - text version of the diagram above

  1. A strong partnership with all parents is fostered. Parents/carers' knowledge about their child is central to their child's learning and assessment process.
  2. Information about what and how children are learning is readily available to parents.
  3. Every child has a named Key Person, and every parent/carer knows who that key person is.
  4. There is an identified space where sensitive conversations between parents and key persons can happen confidentially, as well as meetings with other agencies and professionals.
  5. A whole setting approach is used to engage all staff in developing positive relationships with children, families, and each other to ensure positive attitudes to diversity.
  6. The Provider clearly shows a commitment to equality of opportunity for all children and families from the EYFS by actively promoting the anti-bias approach that values diversity in others.
  7. The workforce is well-skilled and the requirements for suitable experience are met for those working within the EYFS.
  8. The provider has developed secure relationships of trust with local health visitors/other professionals so that contact happens early when needed.
  9. Children are supported by knowledgeable adults who understand how young children develop emotionally, socially, physically, intellectually, morally, culturally, and spiritually through play-based activities indoors and outdoors.
  10. Transitions for children are carefully planned; they involve parents or carers whenever possible.
