You can now recycle small electricals with your weekly kerbside waste and recycling collections.
If you put out your waste and recycling in wheeled bins or sacks on the street, you can now place out anything with a plug, cable or battery on top of your refuse bin or next to your sacks.
The new service makes recycling unwanted or broken small electricals even easier.
The service aims to provide residents with a non-bookable, convenient way to dispose of small electronic items. It will help ensure that electronic waste is properly recycled.
This service is open to all residents who currently use the new wheeled bins or present their waste and recycling in bags and sacks at the edge of their property.
We are currently unable to provide this service if you live in a block of flats or housing estate with a communal rubbish bin. Check below for other ways to recycle your electricals.
Collection day
The small electrical collection will take place on the same day as your normal waste collection. It will be collected by the refuse team and placed into dedicated cages on the refuse collection vehicle for recycling.
How to leave items out
Items will be collected weekly. On the collection day, the small electrical items are to be placed next to or on the waste bin by 6am.
Electricals cannot be placed in wheeled bins, dustbins or bin bags and sacks. Electricals need to be presented loose next to your normal collections.
We have limited space on our collection vehicles, so we kindly ask you to follow a 'little and often' approach. If your item doesn't get collected straight away, please take it back inside, and try again the following week. Alternatively take it to one of our recycling points listed below.
