Statement of Community Involvement in Planning

We are inviting comments on our draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The document sets out how the council wishes to involve residents in the planning process, both in the preparation of planning policy documents and in the consideration of planning applications.

How the SCI works

The SCI sets out our approach to engaging with the community and explains why, how and when the community will be able to participate in planning. This includes plan making (local plans, supplementary planning documents and neighbourhood plans), planning applications and planning enforcement.

The aim is to ensure consistent and effective community involvement at all stages of the planning process.
