Hanukkah, the eight day Jewish festival of light, began at sunset on Thursday 7 December 2023 and ends on Friday 15 December 2023.

The festival is marked by lighting the Hanukkah menorah, an eight-branched candelabra, with an extra candle being lit each night to represent the miracle of the Hanukkah story.

This year, there will be two community events in Lyric Square, which will involve lighting the menorah and blessings.

These will be:

  • Sunday 10 December, 7pm in Lyric Square, led by Rabbi Krichevsky, Chabad, Hammersmith & Fulham
  • Thursday 14 December, 5pm in Lyric Square, led by members of Hammersmith & Fulham’s Jewish Progressive community.

Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating!
