The O2 Shepherds Bush Empire welcomed back music fans to its first large-scale gig in 18 months.
And in a local first, the re-opening party gig goers had to show proof of a negative PCR or lateral flow or proof of a double vaccination through the NHS app or website on Tuesday (20 July).
The Empire said safety was paramount for its guests and staff, adding “Whilst Covid-status certification might not be mandated by law right now, the latest government guidance states that venues such as ours - where people are likely to be in close proximity to others outside their household - are encouraged to use the NHS COVID Pass to certify Covid status for all visitors.”
Performing at the re-opening night gig was Will and the People, Pylons, Louis and The Shakes, and Leon Tilbrook. The headliner was Will and The People who electrified the crowd with their energetic dancing and powerful lyrics. Louis and the Shakes warmed up the audience with their very own indie rock with a psychedelic twise. While Pylons were dressed in suits despite their rocky performance, and Leon Tilbrook got the crowd on their feet.
Free tickets were given to local frontline workers at the council, NHS, and London Ambulance Service as a thank you for their hard work during the pandemic.
