Over 260 older people from across H&F celebrated Christmas together at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith

Our largest-ever Big Christmas Day Lunch for older residents went down a treat on 25 December.

More than 260 local people who otherwise would have been alone enjoyed Christmas Day lunch with all the trimmings at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith.

The council organised the lunch with generous contributions from local businesses, charities, council staff and residents.

There was live entertainment, dancing, a visit from a therapy dog and gift-giving, with each guest taking home a present.

Qualified carers and a team of volunteers ensured that everyone could enjoy the party. A fully accessible door-to-door transport service was also on hand.

“No one should have to spend Christmas Day alone”, said Cllr Ben Coleman, H&F Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care.

“This annual event is just one example of what we’re doing with the help of people, businesses and the third sector across our borough to create a compassionate community in H&F.”

“We’re very grateful to Novotel and all the other local residents, companies and charities for their generosity in making this great day possible.”

Thank you to our compassionate community

H&F’s Big Christmas Day Lunch was only possible thanks to the support of our community.

Not only did Novotel provide the new venue for our Big Christmas Day Lunch but they also cooked our donated turkeys and supplied the rest of the food at cost price. Their events team provided huge support looking after the guests and to our team of volunteers on the day.

We’d also like to thank the following organisations for their kind donations:
