We send a message of unity to all the people of New Zealand

Statement from the Leader of H&F Council following the shootings in New Zealand.

Statement from the Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Cllr Stephen Cowan, following the shootings in New Zealand:

“I know all of us in Hammersmith & Fulham send our love and stand in solidarity with the victims of this cowardly and murderous attack on innocent people at prayer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I echo New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s words in reaffirming that extremism and terrorism has no place in any country when she said, “What has happened in Christchurch is an extraordinary act of unprecedented violence. It has no place in New Zealand. Many of those affected will be members of our migrant communities – New Zealand is their home – they are us.”

We send a message of unity to all the people of New Zealand and state once again that we will always remain vigilant against Islamophobia and all forms of hate.

Here in the UK, I know many people will be worried. The police presence across London has been increased today for Friday prayers and we will continue to increase efforts to always protect all our citizens.”
