“We know that Hammersmith & Fulham is one of the best places to do business in Europe,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.

“This parade of winners confirms it, with these awards illustrating the verve and vigour of local enterprise which survives and thrives in H&F.”

What the judges said

More than 160 businesses took part in the Judges’ Vote where a panel of business experts had the unenviable task of selecting the winners in 13 categories.

Green Bay Supermarket won the Best Small Business award

The Best Small Business award, which had the most entries of all the categories, went to Green Bay Supermarket in North End Road, Fulham. The gong will sit nicely alongside last year’s award for Best Business in Fulham, and co-owners Paula Alcalde and Anderson Caicedo could not have been happier.

“After winning an award last year we were not expecting to win anything this year so it was a great surprise,” said Anderson. “It is an honour to be recognised by the council for all the hard work we have put in since we opened the business.”

Meanwhile, the Best New Business award went to Fort 4 Fun, an affordable after-school childcare service in Melcombe Primary School in Fulham Palace Road.

Director and manager Stella Linares was thrilled after picking up the accolade. “We only opened last year. It is absolutely amazing to win this great award,” the Shepherds Bush resident said. “My inspiration is my daughter Sienna and I cannot say how proud I am of all my team for all the hard work they have put in.”

Other winners included Ma Baker, The Eye Studio and Space City Productions.

The Public Vote

Residents voted Lumi Power Yoga the Best Business in Hammersmith, Naama Deli was named the number one business in Shepherds Bush, with Playdays Parties picking up the gong for Fulham.

Playdays Parties founder and West Kensington resident Jamie Hoult set up the company three years ago.

“I am over the moon that we have won the award this year. This is not just a business. We are a big family here at Playdays Parties,” added Jamie.

Awards legacy

The Brilliant Business Awards began in 2012 and has gone from strength to strength reflecting the success of local traders in the borough.

Last year’s Best Customer Service award winner Merci Maman benefited greatly from the Brilliant Business Award. Founder Beatrice de Montille launched her hand-crafted jewellery company from her kitchen table in 2007 – and has not looked back since.

“Winning the award has allowed us to grow our brand awareness locally but also nationwide,” Beatrice said. “Being recognised by your local council is a great privilege as we work hard to support and work with our local community.

“On the night of the event, we celebrated our achievements and got the chance to network with other local brands and entrepreneurs. This was a great achievement for the team as we pride ourselves on always putting the customer first.”
