We are currently seeking 10 volunteers for a fantastic peer mentoring programme for care leavers.
The Aspire, Believe, Achieve Peer Mentoring programme aims to transform the lives of care experienced young people in Hammersmith and Fulham aged 16-24 who are not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). This structured, three-step mentoring initiative will equip young people with the necessary skills, confidence, and networks to secure full-time employment or further education.
As a care experienced peer mentor, you will build a relationship with a care leaver. By giving your time, you can help a young person with their confidence, and encourage them to make decisions to reach their goals.
As a volunteer, we will match you up with a young person who is the best fit. You may share a hobby or interest, you may be in a career of their interest, or perhaps you are from the same area. We ask that you meet with your mentee four times per month with sessions lasting 1 to 2 hours. You will receive funding for travel and activities with the young person.
Mentoring sessions can take place in the home and in the local community, and at any time during the week, according to the needs of the young person and your availability. The focus of the project is primarily on Education, Training or Employment and supporting mentees to reach their highest potential but it is also about being a positive role model and building a positive relationship with them.
As part of the selection process, you may be invited to attend a young people's panel interview and an Enhance DBS check will be completed.
