Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS) in Hammersmith & Fulham is delivered by West London Mental Health Trust. The provision includes a comprehensive range of community and specialist mental health assessments and treatments that are compliant with NICE guidance and other evidence based assessment and treatments.

The service comprises of multi-disciplinary teams of child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychotherapists, family therapists, clinical psychologists and nurses based in Hammersmith and Fulham. CAMHS offers talking therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Family Therapy, Psychotherapy and Medication.

The service provides:

  • Community services to promote capacity of non CAMHS specialist, community services to support the emotional and mental health of children and young people. Provision includes training, consultation, assessment and short term treatment with a focus on early recognition and intervention for children and young people with emerging mental health difficulties.
  • Specialist services which assesses and treats children and young people including those with learning disabilities with moderate to severe mental health difficulties (including mental illness) and neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD using evidenced-based treatments that are consistent with guidance and best practice. There is also a new Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People which offers help and support to children and young people aged 17 or under who have a suspected or confirmed eating disorder diagnosis. A Crisis service, is also available, and provides support and advice for children and young people who are in a crisis (during working hours as well as out of hours and on weekends).
  • Additional commissioned services for Looked After Children (LAC) and Services for Youth Offending are also available.
