Public Spaces Protection Order to support responsible street entertaining, busking and amplified public speaking in public spaces.
In response to feedback from local residents, we've extended a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to tackle noise nuisance from amplified music and public speaking in Shepherds Bush.
The new PSPO will cover the wider area around Shepherds Bush Green and a section of Uxbridge Road for a further three years.

What are the restrictions?
From 23 June 2022, you are prohibited from using:
- microphones, loudspeakers, megaphones, loud hailers or any other similar equipment designed to amplify the volume of speech or music, 24 hours a day
- mains electricity or generator power for the purposes of amplification.
Exemptions apply to:
- authorised H&F Council events and activities
- premises or vehicles where these activities are permitted under their licence conditions.
Why are these restrictions necessary?
The restrictions are designed to ensure that all H&F residents and visitors can enjoy our public spaces.
Previously, the PSPO restricted amplified busking, street entertainment and public speaking only at certain times of day and only in the area outside Shepherds Bush Station.
We consulted widely on this issue over winter 2021 and the overwhelming response showed that further action was necessary to address the issue of noise nuisance in Shepherds Bush more efficiently.
Residents requested for these activities to be banned 24 hours a day and that the restrictions should be extended to parts of Uxbridge Road and Shepherds Bush Green.
What happens if you fail to comply with this order?
A Police Constable, Police Community Support Officer, Law Enforcement Officer or other authorised person may issue a fixed penalty notice to anyone he or she believes has committed an offence. You will have 14 days to pay the fixed penalty of £100 (£60 if paid within 10 days).
