H&F training cancellations policy

If you sign up to H&F training you need to be aware of the cancellation policy and terms and conditions.

We appreciate that occasions arise which necessitate a member of staff ('learner') to cancel their (face-to-face) training due to unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately in some cases this has an effect on our costs and resources and we need to recharge costs where appropriate. This policy sets out the terms and conditions for these cancellations.

Before booking

We are committed to ensuring learners have the right level of training to do their job. We therefore advise all learners to discuss and agree attendance with their line manager before booking onto training.

Cancelling booking

If cancelling is unavoidable, learners need to cancel the booking through their Learning Zone AND by sending Learning & Careers an email. The email address is learningandcareers@lbhf.gov.uk. Please note that cancelling through the Learning Zone alone is not sufficient and can lead to charges.

Arrivals

Learners need to sign the register on the day for health and safety reasons and to avoid being charged for non-attendance by mistake.

Cancellation charges

Internal training

Considerable disruption is caused when learners are unable to attend, and it can lead to cancellation of training events at short notice.

Therefore, cancellation charges of £100 for each full day of training and £75 for each half day of training are applied in the following circumstances:

  • If the learner does not attend;
  • If the learner cancels his/her place less with than 7 calendar days (unless the learner finds a substitute), whatever the reason for cancellation;
  • If the learner is more than 15 minutes late, irrespective of circumstances – this is very disruptive to other people's learning; and
  • If the learner leaves a session early.
  • These charges will be made directly to the learner's manager.

External training

When we purchase training with an external company, these include cancellation charges.

Therefore, cancellation charges of the full amount of the training (or equivalent to the amount the external company charge us) are applied in the following circumstances:

  • If the learner does not attend;
  • If the learner cancels his/her place less with than 14 calendar days (unless the learner finds a substitute), whatever the reason for cancellation;
  • If the learner is more than 15 minutes late, irrespective of circumstances – this is very disruptive to other people's learning; and
  • If the learner leaves a session early.

These charges will be made directly to the learner's manager.

Cancellation reports

To reduce non-attendance, we will monitor and report cancellations. A quarterly internal report will be produced of learners who do not cancel in time, or do not attend.

H&F cancellations

If H&F needs to cancel a training, a place will be booked on the next available training date at no further cost.
