Olympia parking zones consultation outcome and next steps

Recently we consulted residents in the six zones around Olympia regarding parking and you've overwhelmingly backed extended parking controls.

The next steps are:

New signage will be going up shortly and we anticipate the controls will go live in early July, well in time for the re-opening of Olympia later this year.

Zone B

Residents of Zone B and Zone BB are moving to the same time controls, which will be reclassified as Zone B.

Zone C

Residents of Zone C and Zone CC are moving to the same time controls, which will be reclassified as Zone C.

Zone E

Residents of Zone E and Zone EE are moving to the same time controls, which will be reclassified as Zone E.

Protecting your streets

Parking controls in Zone B, C & E will be extended to seven days a week from 8.30am to 11pm in the evening with a maximum stay restriction of 90 minutes for visitors to the area.

These measures should strongly discourage Olympia visitors from parking in your streets and encourage more use of public transport, cycling and walking to events, bars and restaurants.

Your visitors can stay all day from just £1.80 per hour

To prioritise you and your visitors, the 90 minutes maximum stay restriction will NOT apply to visitors booked in by you. They can stay for as long as they wish provided you have booked them in with your Resident Visitor Permit using RingGo

Also, by booking your visitors in, parking costs are reduced to just £1.80 to £2.80 per hour - depending on the emissions of your visitors' vehicle. This is considerably less than the standard pay-and-display charge which ranges from £2.80 per hour for pure electric vehicles to £7 per hour for the worst-emitting diesel vehicles.

Free parking for your visitors

As we promised during the consultation, we will offer free parking for your visitors during the new extended hours.
