What is settled status?
If you’re a European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss citizen, you and your family will be able to apply to get either settled or pre-settled status to remain living in the UK after Brexit.
There will be no change to your current rights under EU law until the end of the planned implementation period on 31 December 2020. Settled status will mean you can continue living in the UK after 31 December 2020.
The deadline for applying for most people was 30 June 2021. You can still apply if that deadline did not apply to you, or you have ‘reasonable grounds’ for not applying by the deadline.
