Hammersmith & Fulham is hosting Ukrainian Flag Day on Tuesday 23 August, and everyone’s invited.

The celebration is being held at Bishops Park, 12pm-5pm, and will have fun for all the family, including a live rendition of the Ukrainian National Anthem by Ukrainian refugee, professional actress and drama teacher Yevheniia Shymshyrian.

“Ukrainian Flag Day is a fantastic way to show support for Ukraine, welcome Ukrainian refugees living in the borough and to celebrate the diversity of H&F,” said Cllr Rebecca Harvey, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion and Community Safety.

“It’s community-focused events like these that are helping to make Hammersmith & Fulham a stronger, kinder, safer borough.”

Something for everyone

As well as music, there’ll be face painting, a bouncy castle, free sports activities with the London Sports Trust and football coaching with QPR Community Trust.

Handmade products created by local Ukrainian residents will also be on sale, including wreaths, decorative flowers, beautiful art, decorated baskets and baked goods.

The Citizens Advice Bureau will also be attending to provide support on a variety of legal, financial, and personal issues.

Tennis fun

H&F’s Ukrainian Flag Day is being held in partnership with the Rocks Lane Tennis Court’s Ukraine Community Day.

Its Community Day is running from 1pm-4pm, at the tennis courts next to Bishops Park, and is open to families and children of all ages.

From 1pm-3pm coaches from Rocks Lane and the Queens Club Foundation are running some exciting tennis activities. The final hour is open to anyone who wants to take a turn playing.

Spaces are limited for this event. If you would like to register to take part in the tennis fun, please visit the Bishops Park Tennis Centre website.
