Do you have ideas on how to tackle climate change? Do you enjoy collaborating with others and creative problem solving?
If you said yes to any of those questions and are between the ages of 11-20, Youth Climate Ambassadors is open to you! We are a diverse team of young people from our local area who meet every two weeks to discuss and create innovative solutions to the biggest climate and environmental challenges facing our local area.
We work in partnership with H&F Council to develop climate and ecology projects. Our last project was Building for Birds, an initiative implemented in our schools to build bird boxes and increase biodiversity in our area. But we’d love to hear your ideas too!
Why we joined – and why you should too!
Now more than ever before, we need to give climate change the attention it desperately needs before our final chance to save our planet runs out. But this can only be done if we act fast, and act together.
Here are some of the reasons why our current ambassadors joined:
I joined Climate Ambassadors because I felt like the actions I was taking to help save the environment weren’t making much of a difference, but together as a team, we generate a real impact. Also, we are always the first people to hear about new and exciting opportunities through the council!” – Ella
The chance to be part of a team directly influencing decisions in our borough relating to climate change was really appealing to me. I have loved becoming friends with like minded students from other schools and collaborating on projects that make me feel like I am contributing towards bettering our planet. I joined Youth Climate Ambassadors because I have always been passionate about climate change from a young and always wanted to have a good impact and contribute to the environment. By joining the youth ambassadors it created a great opportunity for me to share my ideas with people who are passionate about the environment as me and together we can come up with great ideas to reduce global warming.” – Beatrice
