Messages of appreciation and support on Wendell Park Primary School's gates
Teachers at a primary school in Shepherds Bush have come together to create a video for their students and families.
Deputy Headteacher, Elena Hough, and reception teacher, Megan Snipp at Wendell Park Primary School in Cobbold Road, made the video to let children know that ‘we were missing them’ and that ‘we’re proud of the way they have embraced online learning’.
The video was organised through the school’s staff morale support WhatsApp group. Clips came flooding in from the entire Wendell school community – including teachers, teaching assistants and West London Zone link workers.
“Creativity, song and dance are important within the ethos of Wendell Park,” Elena said. “We hold an annual ‘W Factor’ talent competition which has been postponed due to the current situation. It was only natural for us to choose this as a way of showing our support to our children.”
The response to the video has been amazing, and the school has received emails from children and families saying it has made their day better and that they ‘didn’t know laughing and crying at the same time was possible!’.
One clip in particular has been a hit with viewers as it depicts Deputy Headteacher, Rosemarie Peters, dancing while watering her plants.
Since the video has gone live, a group of parents have worked together and have been placing pictures and messages of appreciation and support on the gates of the school. These messages include: “Team Wendell, your moves are awesome! Thank you for looking after our minds and our hearts. We miss you!”
Megan added: “To bring some happiness and joy into this very unusual situation we decided to create this video and dedicate it to our wonderful students and families.
“We hope you enjoy our messages of positivity and to ‘keep dancing’ until we are all reunited again.”
