Do you want to help us make Hammersmith & Fulham the best place to teach in the country?

You could be a local student, parent, teacher, school governor or simply a local resident who can help make a change. Here is your chance.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is looking for commissioners to join its ground-breaking independent Teaching Commission.

With teacher recruitment and retention becoming more challenging across London, we want to ensure our borough’s students are taught and supported by the best teachers and school staff, from nursery right up to college, to help them fulfil their potential and get into the paths they want to take in life.

Fulham Cross Girls’ School headteacher, Denise Fox, will chair the commission.

“As a lifelong resident of H&F and having spent my entire 40-year teaching career in this borough I am delighted to chair this commission,” said Denise.

“It will look at imaginative and innovative ways to support teachers who wish to work in this vibrant, diverse borough. I passionately believe that all families are entitled to a first-class education and want to ensure we are able to maintain the current outstanding outcomes across H&F.”

If you are interested in getting involved in the work of the Teaching Commission, H&F Council wants to hear from you.

Please email Fawad Bhatti setting out some details of your areas of expertise, your experience and why you want to be on the commission.

Any expressions of interest in becoming a commissioner are to be received by 15 November.

The commission is expected to complete its work and publish its findings and recommendations by winter 2020.
