Snow sprites will be part of the all-day entertainment at the new Hammersmith Christmas Market
Local primary school children are invited to take part in our Jack and the Beanstalk-themed treasure hunt at the new Hammersmith Christmas Market on 2 December.
It’s free to enter! And each participant who completes the treasure hunt has a chance of winning a family ticket for four (max. two adults) to the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at the Lyric theatre.
Just bring your little ones down to the Lyric Square between 12noon to 4pm where on Saturday 2 December and they can collect a sheet of clues from HammersmithLondon. Then the real fun begins!
“We want to give our residents and businesses a merry start to the festive season,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration.
“We hope to make this the first of many traffic-free markets in Hammersmith as we drive to make H&F the best place to work, live and prosper in Europe.”
Free Christmas cheer
Children and young people can also get their skates on for the free outdoor ice rink that has been added to the list of attractions at the Hammersmith Christmas Market.
The synthetic rink will be open from 10am-5.30pm with half-hour sessions.
And there is even more at the first-ever Hammersmith Christmas Market. All-day entertainment includes carol singing cats, naughty elves, Glitter Belles on stilts, Rudolph, Ice King and Queen, a seasonal photo booth, free Christmas wrapping and children’s workshops.
Bubble tea treat
So what’s on offer at the market? How about bubble tea!
Hammersmith resident Yohannes Miller will bring the first bubble tea business to the borough at the inaugural Christmas market.
Yohannes has been over in Taiwan, the home of bubble tea, with his business partner Yen-Ting learning the fine arts of making tea after visiting 100-year-old tea factories.
“There was a lot of tea tasting which wasn’t easy in 32 degrees of heat,” joked Yohannes. “I have always wanted to learn more about bubble tea and how to make it and now we want to bring it to H&F.
“We are looking forward to the Christmas Market and getting the chance to see what the people think about our products. It is great to see a traffic-free market on King Street which is a great addition to the Farmers’ Market on Lyric Square and the upcoming Food Court in Kings Mall.”
The Hammersmith entrepreneurs are in the process of opening their own bubble tea shop after Christmas. It will be the first in the borough.
