Hammersmith & Fulham Council funds the White City Enterprise that provides a year-round play service for all children and young people in the area including after-school care at the adventure playground and activities during the school holidays.

Partners in play

Play Association went into partnership with the Randolph Beresford Early Years Centre over the summer to manage the adventure playground.

With financial support from Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the Randolph Beresford centre, attendance shot up to 160 registered children at the playground that is now open after school to all young people living in the area.

“I live to see the joy on the kids’ faces as they play and the renovated adventure playground is a great asset to the local community,” said Play Association CEO Steve Boeje.

Steve has been involved in play and childcare for over 25 years but has not lost his contagious enthusiasm for his work.

He called in the help of social enterprise Three Elements who organised for cosmetics company L’Oréal to send members of their HR department to assist the volunteer group in the revamp of the playground.

The White City Adventure Playground was awarded the Adventure Playground of the Year accolade in 2015 at the annual London Play Awards.
