The Princess Victoria pub will return to reign over Shepherds Bush after its sudden closure left residents bewildered three months ago.
The historic pub in Uxbridge Road will reopen next month under new owners Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox.
“It is fantastic news the landmark pub that has served the community for almost 200 years is reopening its doors,” said Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration. “We want to make H&F the greatest place to live, work and socialise in Europe – and our community pubs are vital to our efforts.”
Over 100 gins and 40 beers will be on offer at the award-winning Victorian public house which was famed for its scrumptious pub grub – even getting a thumbs up from TV celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, and food writer Anthony Bourdain before it closed last summer.
And the new owners are looking to continue that culinary tradition with a British-inspired menu that includes scotch eggs, British charcuterie, puff pastry pies and artisan pizzas.
Improvements all round
The original gin palace with its soaring ceilings is scheduled to have improvements made with a new front terrace in addition to the existing courtyard garden.
"We are absolutely delighted to confirm we are taking on The Princess Victoria,” said co-owner Tom Peake. “It is such a well-loved pub with a rich history and we can’t wait to breathe new life into it."
The Princess Victoria poured its first pint back in 1829 and was once owned by Richard Branson.
It closed suddenly on 30 June under previous owner Affinity Bars and Restaurants – an independent operator – that also shut down three other pubs that it ran across London, blaming Brexit for creating volatile market conditions.
